Polyurethane

Polyurethane resins offer unparalled versatility in their range of hardnesses from Shore 00 to Shore D; from gels, through rubbers to rigid resins.

Polyurethanes, otherwise known as PUs, are classed as reaction polymers that are produced by reacting two or more components, generally made up of a base compound and a catalyst/hardener.

Techsil supplies two main types of PU's:

PUs for Potting, Encapsulation and Sealing - used for insulating, sealing and protecting electronic and electrical devices or circuit boards (PCBs). Characterised by an excellent level of mechanical properties, good high temperature performance and good adhesion to a wide variety of substrates.

•  PU Casting Resins - For limited production runs, Rapid Prototyping, Model Making, Medical Devices, Medical Models, Prosthetics and Special Effects.

Polyurethane Brands

•  Potting PUs: Techsil has a selection of own brand two part PUs for potting, sealing and encapsulation

•  Casting Resins: Techsil markets a full range of polyurethanes from BJB Enterprises, an elastomer manufacturer based in CA, USA along with an extensive range of Techsil branded products.

Key Characteristics of Polyurethanes

•    Wide range of room temperatures, work times and cure times to suit indivudal application requirements
•    Can be poured, brushed or sprayed
•    High Strength
•    Can have skin replication qualities (BJB F Range)
•    Wide range of Shore Hardness available across all ranges, from 00 up to Shore D.

Product Information

Techsil’s Potting PUs range contains products with a range of different properties such as thermal conductivity, viscosities, hardnesses and colours - water clear, opalescent and black coloured materials are available.

BJB's Casting PUs range includes all the following types:

•    Flexible Shore A Castable Resins (F & FP Ranges)
•    Machine Catable Resins (MC Range)
•    Rigid Unfilled Elastomers (TC Range)
•    Rigid Filled Elastomers (TC Range)
•    Water Clear Solutions (WC Range)
•    Flame Retaradant Foams
•    Speciality Polyurethane Systems

BJB Polyurethane Fact - BJB PU foams are often used behind either latex skin or BJB’s F Range (as skin); we’ve seen a lot of dummies for horror movies & gory special effects using this method.
