PSA

Pressure Sensitive Silicone Adhesives (PSAs)are designed for either permanent or removable applications. As the name "pressure-sensitive" indicates, the degree of bond is influenced by the amount of pressure which is used to apply the adhesive to the surface. Surface factors such as smoothness, surface energy, removal of contaminants are important to proper bonding.

Techsil supplies PSAs ranging from removable glue dots, to pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive, pressure sensitive tapes and high performance industrial silicones. Available in a wide range of forms, PSAs can be used on a variety of materials. High performance PSAs exhibit high adhesion values and will support KGs of weight per square centimetre. Others are designed to form a temporary bond with a view to being removed after months or years without leaving any residue on the substrate.

PSAs are usually designed to form a bond and hold properly at room temperatures. PSAs typically reduce or lose their tack at low temperatures and reduce their shear holding ability at high temperatures; special adhesives are made to function at high or low temperatures. It is important to choose an adhesive formulation which is designed for its intended use conditions.

Silicone PSAs offer an ideal solution where a one component heat cure or RTV silicone would be unsuitable.  Silicone PSAs cure to form a thin, hard yet flexible silicone resin. They can be used with a catalyst or blended with other silicone PSAs to enhance properties.
