LOCTITE® SI 5980 is a flange sealant designed especially for gasketing applications. It withstands in-line, low-pressure tests carried out after assembly of the flanges.
LOCTITE® SI 5980™ is a one part, black, alkoxy silicone flange sealant which has excellent resistance to automotive engine oils. SI 5980 cures to a rigid rubber gasket and offers good glycol resistance. It withstands in line low pressure tests, carried out before product begins to cure.
Typical applications include stamped sheet metal covers where good oil resistance and the ability to withstand high joint movement is required. Ideal for applications involving large gaps.
