Clair Edmunds Climbs Snowdon for Parkinsons UK

Clair Edmunds Climbs Snowdon for Parkinsons UK

On Saturday 4th October, Clair Edmunds, from our sales team, took on the Snowdon at Night Challenge in aid of Parkinsons UK, a charity close to her heart.

Parkinson's UK supports those with Parkinson's and their families every step of the way. By campaigning for change, fundraising for research into new treatments and offering support, their primary goal is to improve life with Parkinson’s and ultimately find a cure.

Alongside fellow fundraisers, the challenge begins in the town of Llanberis and involves trekking to the summit, at night, supported by experienced mountain leaders.

About her experience Clair said:

It was a tough challenge at best but with Storm Amy making an appearance, it just made it slightly harder. Not only were we battling sleep deprivation, and 1000 metres of mountain in the dark, but we were also contending with winds of around 40mph, at points more. Sadly, the Charity Challenge team deemed it not safe to continue further than 935 Metres, so we were 150 metres shy of the summit.

It was mentally and physically challenging at points, but I kept my spirits high with the help of my good friend Sally and some awesome team guides Elin and Conner! Every small step I was taking, however hard, I kept thinking about my mum and all the other Parkinsons sufferers who struggle to take one step daily.

I am just beginning to stop having pain in my legs, however I am looking forward to a lazy weekend as I am still so tired!

Thanks for everyone’s support so far with their kind donations, if any one hasn’t donated and can spare £1 or more, I know every penny counts towards Parkinsons UK making someone’s day with the support they give, or the research they put into finding ways to live better lives with Parkinsons, or maybe one day a cure.

Having already raised over £2000, we are incredibly proud of Clair for what she’s achieved!

If you are able, Clair's Just Giving Page is still open, which you can find here
