Sprayable Hotmelt; A safer, cleaner alternative to aerosol-based bonding systems
Sprayable hotmelt adhesives from Power Adhesives have redefined hot melt application and large-scale bonding without compromising bond strength. Used across industries including packaging, appliances, furniture manufacturing, and automotive, these adhesives offer a safer alternative to spray can adhesives both for the user and environment.
What are Sprayable Hotmelt Adhesives?
Sprayable hotmelt adhesives are solid hot melt slugs pushed through a specialist spray applicator which spiralises the molten adhesive by using compressed air. They are quick to apply evenly without excess weight or wastage from over application, making them a cost-effective way of bonding large surfaces. Their application in a spiral spray pattern also ensures faster cooling, reduced material damage, and efficient production.
Why are they important?
Tecbond sprayable hot melts are solvent free. By utilising compressed air no hazardous propellants are used, removing the hazardous VOCs associated with traditional spray can adhesives. This eliminates the need for respirator PPE and creates a safer environment for workers.
Additionally sprayable hot melt offers an alternative for securing pallets, providing a sustainable alternative for businesses looking to cut down on plastic use and use more environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
How do they work?
All Tecond sprayable adhesives are designed to work with Tec Spray Applicators. Once the hotmelt is loaded into the applicator:
- Pulling the pneumatic trigger feeds compressed air into the tool, pushing the feed mechanism and the adhesive into the element.
- Once the adhesive has melted, the feed mechanism continues to push the, now molten, adhesive through to the nozzle.
- The compressed air is then fed into the outer section of the nozzle. The nozzle has slanted flutes around the outside where the air escapes from, causing the adhesive to spiral.
- The adhesive cools rapidly upon extrusion to ensure substrates do not melt or burn.
Where can they be used?
Sprayable hotmelt adhesives can be used across industries from packaging to white goods and automotive, some specific applications include:
- Pallet stabilisation
- Packaging inserts
- Heating and conditioning units
- Foam to foam bonding
- Mattress assembly
- Furniture assembly and upholstery
- Panel bonding
- Attaching foam to packing crates
- Carpet installation
- Duct insulation and reflective foam
- Securing thermal insulation
- Prevent slippage and load shifting during storage or transport
